And we have it. The long-awaited finale to one of the most popular series in recent times: Code Geass. Those months were pure torture — screw Harry Potter, this was one of the things I eagerly waited for this year (aside from Super Robot Wars Original Generations). With a multi-layered plot, the finale *may* not have been successful at wrapping things up (instead it adds more), but it has certainly prolonged the interest of many fans.
Because I’m hard-pressed at school, I won’t be making summaries for a while. For a while could be extended indefinitely as I see fit. Well, really, why read summaries when you’ve watched the episode? I assume you have, unless you’re trying to pick up new shows based on content. Anyways, it still applies — no summaries for a while.

Orange returns! ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~
I don’t think the finale has done any good at all to Lelouch’s standing among his allies and underlings. The way he disappeared on the Order at such an urgent moment spelled disaster for the morale of his troops. Leaving the battle plans to Toudou was a grave mistake; while Toudou is definitely a combat-hardened veteran, he can’t perform his role without knowing the situation at hand. Even Diethard, a die-hard (pardon the pun) Zero fanboy, has expressed fear and nervousness upon learning of Zero’s sudden absence. The only real thing keeping the Knights together is Zero’s charisma, the way he could turn a wavering heart into an indomitable battle spirit. Recall the times that he’d lead the Knights to what would have been total defeat, yet perform an inspiring (or compelling) speech in order to make them do what he wants, with decisive results. He may suck as a warrior, but Lelouch is a great general.
Now, what would happen to the flames of rebellion that Lelouch had fanned? I’d still say they would win — Cornelia’s fatal injuries (I’ll leave it at that, since she hasn’t died on-screen anyway), Britannia’s credibility destroyed due to Euphie, China poised threateningly against Britannian rule in Japan, and the siege of the capital. Britannia in Japan is finished, and the Graston Knights are merely fighting out of pride of their Empire rather than anything else. All they need to do is install Kaguya on the throne, and that’s it. Independence. It’ll happen with or without Zero.

OH SHI-
And what would be waiting for Zero in an independent Japan? Probably nothing. We’ve seen how Zero’s lost credibility during the progression of episode 25. As the Black Knights are getting killed left and right, the surviving fighters ask themselves where Zero is, what is he doing right now, etc etc. A soldier doesn’t doubt his leader like that. If that happens, the leader in question has failed already. While it is perfectly understandable for Lelouch to rush to Nunnally’s aid, what he did was just wrong. The rebellion was and is his responsibility. He hasn’t grown into something completely heartless — his care for Nunnally is testament to that. Euphie’s unfortunate tragedy had even visibly shaken him, but it may have also hardened his heart. Losing someone you loved like that, it would’ve made you cold and bitter. If Zero were to return to Japan after his ordeal with Suzaku, there’s probably a 50/50 percent chance of him getting bitchslapped and executed by Kaguya (seeing he’s abandoned her and all, royalty could be very unforgiving with these kinds of things), or lol marriage.

Still, Cecile remains my favorite female in the show. Go figure.
Let’s look at what happened between Lelouch and Suzaku near the end. Probably the cliffhanger of cliffhangers in the entire series — while there are lots of theories as to what happened next, no one but Sunrise can really tell what really happened, and I bet they’re laughing their asses off reading at every individual fan’s theory on the matter. The two seem hell-bent on killing each other, even Suzaku doesn’t care if the sakuradite bomb kills him and Kallen provided that he put a stop to Zero’s existence. Lelouch is also mightily pissed at Suzaku for using his ultimately flawed sense of justice against him. Maybe Kallen shot any of them, as she’s also holding a gun. But let’s leave one paragraph for that now; nothing less than an official announcement from Sunrise (short of airing the continuation) would clear things up.
“What about C.C.?” You might ask. I think that it’s highly unlikely that C.C. would die from her action of shoving Jeremiah deep into the sea, as her contract with Lelouch hasn’t been fulfilled yet. Also, there are a lot of unanswered questions about her origin and such. How could they kill her off when she’s one of the most iconic characters on the show? Pizza Hut would absolutely object to their chief endorser dying like that — she has to die while eating pizza! Jeremiah too won’t probably die, just down for the count. He’s far too popular too — a smashing success if you ask me. From stuck-up Britannian to the sensation known as Orange-kun, his transformation from some annoying villain into O-o-o-o-orenji was nothing short of phenomenal.
The Ashford scene ends also in a total cliffhanger — Nina has everyone at her mercy with her bomb-toting Ganymede. Now I don’t know what will happen with this. It is unlikely that Lloyd would ally himself with the Japanese, nor would the Black Knights let Nina get away with what she’s planning. The great thing was, we got to see a bit of Cecile’s body as well as her sexy pilot suit (which also probably increases her synch-rate, lol).

Young Cornelia FTW
What of Cornelia? She must be dead, after all, Lelouch has what he needs from her. Keeping her alive after her failure in Japan would only serve as torture. She still wins the most badass female award in the show for me, though. She must have a pussy of iron that would crush your cock if you attempted to rape her. That’s just how she is.

Chigusa ;_;
The Villetta-Ougi subplot has been a compelling one. I rather enjoyed Villetta’s transformation into Chigusa, even though it was a little more than just a cheap plot device. It was pretty tragic for Ougi learning about Villetta’s true identity. Your-Mom was just lol with their translation of “outrageous sex with that Eleven” though. Seriously, gg all the way. While Villetta’s predicament is unclear after the season ended, she’s got to be somewhere around, as she knows who Zero is.
One of the biggest mysteries so far is V.V.’s existence. Who is he and what are his motives? He seems to have a similar history with C.C., but the latter claims to not know him. We do know that his kidnapping of Nunnally has fucked up Lelouch’s plans big-time, and allowed an incredibly batshit-pissed Suzaku on his ass.

Falcon Punch!
And Kallen. What will she do now, having learned the sad truth that she’s been used by Zero from the very start? Maybe she has developed feelings for Lelouch. Or at least, a sort of respect and understanding for that person. However, learning that Zero (the man she trusted with everything) and Lelouch (who said and did the right things at the right time) were one person, who wouldn’t be trounced by that? She could go insane, or get as pissed as Suzaku on Lelouch. Or why not the unthinkable — develop even stronger feelings for the man than before? My guess is as good as yours, but I predict some interesting development between her and Suzaku. Both are quite alike.
All in all, season 1 of Code Geass has proven to be an interesting treat for everyone. Controversial cliffhanger ending or not, the show still has a lot more to offer in its continuation. I hope it would be a full 2nd season, too.
