I am so behind on things. In Gurren Lagann, Rossiu’s actions have caused a shitstorm on the boards I frequent. In Claymore, a couple of lukewarm episodes to start the Northern Campaign arc. There’s even episode 18 of this show already subbed by Guerrand. It seems that a.f.k. has dropped this show after episode 16 in favor of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. Guerrand is pretty decent even though they use a bloody-red font that hurts my eyes.

Now, if Lucky Star characters were animated in Haruhi style…
I can’t really remember episode 16 very well, except that it had something like 3 minutes of Haruhi promotion in it. While Yuki and Kyon, two of the aforementioned show’s greatest characters made appearances, their lines lacked depth and character — seeing Kyon not having any internal monologue with himself was definitely unusual. I think it also had an ED done by Hiromi Konno, who had a good voice. Other than that, some Yukari (Miyuki’s mom) moments. I believe my respect for the show (and KyoAni as well) in general dropped considerably at that point. Who knows, Haruhi’s 2nd season might also get overboard with the otaku culture references.

I swear I could see Haruhi doing this to Yuki in another show.
Episode 17 is another matter entirely. Again the show seesaws from epic fail to massive win. There was good abundance of Kagami without her usual getting-flustered-by-Kona-isms act. She actually engages in some intelligent conversation about literature with Konata, and even beats her in her own game. The Kagami-Matsuri scene was done very well, eliciting some emotional impact on me. Most supporting characters had their own moments, and nobody was left out. Lucky Channel was also pretty good, since Meito Anisawa seemed to find himself there (well at least we don’t get another predictable Animate skit). His lines were absolutely lol, even extending to the next episode’s preview. FINGERRRRRR!

As for episode 17’s ED, I say you have to watch it for yourself. It seems like KyoAni can’t get enough of parading Minoru Shiraishi’s cock the show’s viewers. He’s a lot more entertaining than the karaoke EDs, but still… there’s something devious going on.

I didn’t get this one, sadly.
And that’s it. Back to OpenGL programming, ho-hum…

Wait, wut?
