The show is improving, at least, thanks to the new side characters. Judging from the previews and this episode’s Lucky Channel, they’ll be appearing more and more often. Which is yay. Also, apparently a.f.k. just took a little longer than expected to sub this show, so I’m back to patronizing their releases (hate Guerrand’s red font).

Why do I like this scene so much?
Hyorin is introduced in this episode, who is the classmate of Yutaka and Minami. She’s into yuri stuff, and has a penchant for drawing inspiration from her daily experiences. The scene where her friends find out about her steamy drawings was easily the best moment in the episode. Patricia Martin, whom we saw as Mikuru in episode 16, reveals herself to be quite an otaku. At least, she hasn’t paraded it too much unlike Konata.

FUCK YEAH SRW
As for Konata, the SRW scene was just win. My only complaint is that they did FMP again. It’s nice to see, though. The scene also seemed to have a message telling watchers to keep up tabs on current events as well as anime and manga (in a similar scene, Mr. Hiiragi chastises Tsukasa for reading manga and not the newspaper). There’s a point to it — maybe I should pick up the newspaper and read past the comics section sometime.

But… but…!
Again, Kagami beats Konata at her own game, no, make that two. She proves that Konata doesn’t have a monopoly on Haruhi references, initiating two of them in a short span. While they are Haruhi references again, I sure don’t mind because they were very benign ones, easy to miss unless you’re a hardcore fan of the said show (in which case, I am).

Perfect doujin material.
Lucky Channel is pretty lukewarm, because Akira derailed the segment’s true purpose again (introducing characters). We never got past their names and roles, but that’s not really an issue since it’s easy to learn about their personalities and quirks by watching the show itself. Which really makes Lucky Channel superfluous, indeed.
For the ED, hahaha oh wow. Is Minoru Shiraishi going to marry Kaori Fukuhara, when in fact the latter thinks that the former stinks (see back episodes)? Pretty nice scene, especially the end, and hilarious singing once more.
I sincerely hope they continue with the show in this direction, to save it from being fail. Here’s to seeing more of the side characters!

Hyorin’s art. Not bad, really.
